Goaltending is the backbone of any good hockey team and also the backbone of the success of P.A.L. Ice Hockey. We continue to make goaltender development a top priority of our program; and with that in mind we are again thrilled to offer you Bob Bellemore's annual free goalie clinic held at the Rinx on August 27th - this is open to all goalies in the organization at all Youth levels.
Coach Bellemore is one of the most highly-regarded athletes in Providence College history and is a former goalie coach of the New Jersey Devils. Over his long coaching career he has served as an assistant coach with the Providence College men's and women's ice hockey teams; and worked closely with USA Hockey as an instructor at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. His wealth of knowledge and experience is incredibly valuable and we can not stress enough the importance of our goaltenders attending this clinic. We encourage all of our goalies to take advantage of this free clinic that Coach Bellemore has again agreed to provide for the P.A.L. program.
These are clinics designed exclusively for goalies with the intention to develop fundamental and advanced skills at every level. Each clinic will include a focus on mobility, stamina, playing the angles, situational decision making, rebound control, stance and movement, playing the puck and more. There will be goalie-focused skating drills, shooter stations and "The Goalie Anthem," which our young netminders will take with them into the coming season as a mental edge to go along with their developing skills.
The clinic will be held on Tuesday August 27th at The Rinx as follows:
Our annual Golf Outing will be held August 26, 2019. P.A.L. Ice Hockey has organized this outing to help raise funds for the continued effort in keeping costs of playing ice hockey as reasonable as possible for those less fortunate. While enjoying a day of golf, you will assist in providing an opportunity for kids to play the great game of hockey. We are very pleased to be playing at the beautiful Baiting Hollow Club home of the US Open Qualifier…SEE FULL DETAILS
Kids ages 5 to 8 who want to learn to play ice hockey can sign up for the New York Islanders’ Learn to Play initiative that begins in August at ice rinks across Long Island.
For $200, the eight-week program includes ice time and head-to-toe equipment for the child to keep. The program was developed jointly by the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players’ Association to offer more families a chance to experience youth hockey.
Training includes passing and stick handling and emphasizes respect and teamwork. Participants must be first-time players. If the child doesn’t know how to skate, it is recommended they take a “Learn to Skate” class at a participating local rink before their sessions begin.
Registration is online only, at learntoplay.nhl.com/islanders. If preferred locations are sold out, complete a waiting list form and families may be contacted if an opening occurs. Sessions begin in August at The Rinx in Hauppauge (currently sold out), Cantiague Park Ice Rink in Hicksville, Northwell Health Ice Center at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow and Ice Works in Syosset.
Other sessions begin in September and October. For more information, email
