In addition to creating good hockey players, PAL Hockey strives to help our players become good citizens. Toward that end our organization has all of our teams select a community service project for all their players to participate in. Through doing for others, our players learn valuable life lessons that will serve them well in their years to come. See below for a description of each team's project for the 2016-2017 season as well as links to pictures.
MITE GOLD AAA - The PAL Mite Gold Team took up a collection of food to donate to Island Harvest. Island Harvest helps families in need during the entire year and our team is proud to be a part of that during this holiday season. Thank you to all who helped us along the way...PHOTO
MITE SILVER AA - On November 12th, 2016 the PAL Mite Silver Blue Knights participated in the 9th Annual Hope for the Warriors 1 Mile Walk/Run in Lindenhurst, NY Together the team raised $1010.00 to go towards helping families benefits Hope For The Warriors, a non-profit organization that restores self, family, and hope to service members, their families, and families of the fallen through comprehensive case management and many programs...PHOTO
MITE BRONZE A - The PAL Mite Bronze team participated in a coat drive donating 45 coats to Warm Coats Warm Hearts...PHOTO
MITE SOUND TIGERS GOLD AAA - The Mite Gold Sound Tigers visited the Ronald McDonald House on January 31st. They were given a tour of the house and then the boys proceeded to bake cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies for the families staying there. The warm fresh baked goods were received with appreciation by the families and the boys did a wonderful job...PHOTO
MITE SOUND TIGERS SILVER AA - On December 5th 2016, the PAL Mite Sound Tigers Silver team participated in a community service project for an organization called Gavin's Got Heart (GGH). GGH is a non-profit organization that provides financial and emotional support for families with children affected by congenital heart defects. GGH helps to subsidize medical bills, travel expenses associated with hospitalizations and medical care, as well as offset the loss of wages for caregiver/parent(s). GGH also provides free heart screenings, and CPR/AED training for the community through a partnership with Northwell Health and provides outreach for the heart families. The boys participated by collecting infant socks, baby books, and $5 gift cards to Starbucks. These items are then put into "Smile Sacks" by the organization and given to the families in the hospital...PHOTO

SQUIRT AA - The PAL AA Squirt team's community service involved working that they did for Operation Gratitude. The team collected items to ship care packages to the men and women in our military; and each of the boys on the team wrote a letter thanking the military for their service...PHOTO

SQUIRT A - On 1/17/17, the Squirt A team completed their community service project. The players became volunteer "blanketeers" and made homemade blankets to donate to Project Linus. PEEWEE AAA MINOR ATLANTIC - The team collected new, unwrapped toys from November 25th to December 12th at The Rinx to assist the US Marines in their annual Toys for Tots campaign. The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.
PEEWEE AAA MINOR METROPOLITAN - The Peewee Minor Metro Team held a coat drive on Saturday 12/17/16. They personally delivered all the coats over to the INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network) in Hempstead. It was a great experience for the boys...PHOTO
PEEWEE AAA MAJOR -- The team paired up with the Westchester Warriors to play a charity game and auction off NHL memorabilia to raise money for the Maria Fereri Children's Hospital. The hospital, located at the Westchester Medical Center, is the advanced care pediatric hospital for New York’s Hudson Valley region and Fairfield County, Connecticut...PHOTO
PEEWEE A - The Peewee A - Rinx team did their community service project on 12/17/16 at the Rinx. The team sold admission tickets, raffle tickets, etc, at a charity hockey game between Suffolk's Boldest and the FDNY/EMS. In addition, all players on the team sold a minimum of 5 "chances" tickets at $10 each. They also collected a new, unwrapped toy for admission to the game. BANTAM AAA MINOR - In honor of Navy Seal Lt. Michael Murphy, who was killed in the line of duty, the Bantam Minor AAA team volunteered on June 25th at the annual Lt Michael P Murphy run around the lake in Ronkonkoma. What a great community service and the team's effort was much appreciated by the participants...PHOTOS
BANTAM AAA MAJOR - On Saturday, 11/19 the Bantam AAA Major team played the LI Roughriders sled hockey team in Bethpage and hosted a breakfast for them following the game. The team also donated a gift basket for the Roughriders annual Sock Hop fundraiser.....The P.A.L. Junior Islanders Bantam Major Tier 1 hockey team also volunteered their time and services on June 30th to help Suffolk AHRC continue their work on the Shoreham Sensory Garden. Players from as far west as Syosset and as far east as Wading River participated in the event to help AHRC continue their work! The team helped by removing debris from the grounds and laying bricks for the pathways throughout the garden....PHOTOS
BANTAM AA - The team completed their Community Service to benefit LI2DAY. During October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness month, the team wore special pink and black jerseys, participated in Pink The Rink days, collected donations from friends, families and neighbors and raised funds through an online effort. The team made a donation to LI2DAY of $4,200.
